The Rainbow Project is dedicated to providing English tutoring subsidies for secondary school students in need. By helping students access learning resources outside school, the Project supports them in improving their English proficiency and preparing for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination and further studies. It also encourages students to develop self-discipline, diligence and a commitment to continuous learning.
During the 2025/26 school year, five secondary schools participated in the Project: Nam Wah Catholic Secondary School, The Mission Covenant Church Holm Glad College, Ko Lui Secondary School, Ng Wah Catholic Secondary School and S.K.H. All Saints’ Middle School. A total of 64 students participated in the Rainbow Project this year, including 33 Form 6 students.
Among the 33 Form 6 students, 29 attained Level 2 or above in the HKDSE English Language examination, representing an overall pass rate of 88%. In addition, 10 students, or 30%, attained Level 3 or above, including nine students who achieved Level 3 and one student who achieved Level 4.
Although the overall pass rate decreased compared with the previous school year, the proportion of students attaining Level 3 or above increased from 27% to 30%, reflecting the stronger performance achieved by some participating students in English Language.
The progression pathways of the 33 Form 6 students were as follows:
- 12 students (36%) progressed to bachelor’s degree programmes
- 9 students (27%) progressed to associate degree programmes
- 6 students (18%) progressed to higher diploma programmes
- 4 students (12%) progressed to foundation or articulation programmes
- 2 students did not provide information about their further studies
Compared with the previous school year, the proportion of students progressing to bachelor’s degree programmes increased by six percentage points, from 30% to 36%, while the proportion progressing to higher diploma programmes remained at 18%. Overall, students pursued a diverse range of pathways, including bachelor’s degree, associate degree, higher diploma, and foundation or articulation programmes.
The Yuk Ching Charity Trust is delighted to see the participating students continue to work towards their English learning and further education goals. Their achievements reflect not only their perseverance, but also the positive contribution of appropriate learning support. Through continued English learning subsidies, the Trust hopes to help students consolidate their language foundations, strengthen their confidence and prepare for further studies and personal growth.
Looking ahead, the Yuk Ching Charity Trust will continue to work closely with the participating schools to advance the Rainbow Project. The Trust remains committed to providing English learning support for more students in need, helping them strengthen their abilities, realise their potential and broaden their opportunities for further studies and personal development.
